Mechanical Advantage, a new FIRST Robotics Competition team, formed at Littleton High School. The goal of the student-led group is to build a FIRST approved robot that will compete in the 2017 FIRST competition.
This is a coed team for students in grades 9-12 interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields such as engineering, robotics and coding, as well as students interested in photography, graphic design, video production, writing blogs and articles, social media promotion and finances.
The Littleton FRC team will meet weekly through the summer and regularly in the fall. The competition season starts in early January of 2017, when the specific game rules for that year are announced. The team then has about seven weeks to build their robot before the competition rounds start. Along with building a robot, team members will develop skills that prepare them for careers in STEM and related fields.
Mechanical Advantage is actively looking for additional team members who are interested in engineering, robotics, writing, social media, graphic design, photography and/or video production, as well as adult mentors with expertise in any of these fields. All local students are welcome regardless of experience and do not need to be students at LHS. In addition, the team is looking for organizations willing to help sponsor the team.
